HTC Touch2 launching with Windows Mobile 6.5

Microsoft announced that the first batch of Windows Mobile 6.5 smartphones would launch on October 6. The Touch2 will include the new features of WM 6.5, such as a revamped Internet Explorer Mobile with Flash support, Windows Marketplace for Mobile, and Microsoft's My Phone backup service.

As part of the HTC's Touch series, the smartphone will also use the company's TouchFlo 3D interface and include the touch-sensitive zoom bar that we first saw on the HTC Touch Pro2 and the Touch Diamond2. Other features of the HTC Touch 2 include a 2.8-inch QVGA touch screen, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS, and quad-band world roaming. The device has a 3.2-megapixel camera, 512MB ROM/256MB RAM, and a microSD expansion slot.

The HTC Touch2 will be available to some customers on October 6, though the company was very vague about which markets. It added that the smartphone would be broadly released in European and Asian markets in early Q4 but pricing was not mentioned at this time.
